The negotiation between Roma and Mile Svilar continues, with the team eager to reach an agreement before the summer to avoid any threat, as the goalie is expected to draw important suitors.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, the player and his camp have asked for €4M annually. It’d be a massive pay raise since he’s making €800k. The parties might end up shaking hands at €3M per year. It’s still undetermined whether there’ll be a release clause in his contract, and how much it’d amount to eventually.

If Roma and Svilar did concur to those figures, he’d be the second-highest paid shot-stopper in Serie A. Only Mike Maignan earns more in Serie A, and his wages could go up through a potential renewal. Instead, Yann Sommer, Michele Di Gregorio, Marco Carnesecchi, and David De Gea all pocket about €2M per season.

Claudio Ranieri recently voiced his serenity on the matter, stating that the goalie wants to stay. The fans made their opinion heard through a banner at the Stadio Olimpico.

“Talent, attachment to the jersey, and desire to fight, lock up Svilar now.”

Director Florent Ghisolfi weighed in.

“I’m optimistic, and we’re talking with his agent. He’s focused on the games. We aren’t in a rush, as his contract expires in 2027. He’s important for the club, he’s comfortable here, and deserves an extension.”

Our Take on Roma and Svilar

He’s fully in the mix to be the top-performing player at his position in Serie A this campaign. In reality, the salaries of the others are pretty low. His prospective numbers would still be very manageable big picture-wise.
