Messages of tribute have been rolling in from Serie A clubs on Easter Monday following the death of Pope Francis.

The Pope died at the age of 88 on Easter Monday.

As a result, all Serie A, Serie B, Serie C and Primavera matches originally scheduled to take place on Monday have been postponed until further notice.

Several teams across the pyramid have already released statements via social media expressing their condolences and informing their supporters of the update to the day’s fixture schedule.

Juventus released a statement on social media that read: “Tonight’s game has been postponed until further notice due to the death of Pope Francis. We join in mourning for the passing of the pontiff.”

Milan wrote: “Like a light, your words will live on in our hearts and guide us for eternity.”

Inter wrote: “FC Internazionale Milano joins in mourning for the passing of Pope Francis, a man of faith, humility and discourse, who touched the hearts of us all.”

Roma wrote: “AS Roma joins in mourning for the passing of Pope Francis, a loss that deeply saddens our city and the entire world. His faith, humility, his courage and his dedication have touched the hearts of millions of people.

“His legacy of peace and solidarity will remain an indelible example. Our thoughts go out to all those who continue to be inspired by his values.”

Atalanta wrote: “Atalanta BC are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Pope Francis, a man who embodied international values and a great enthusiast of the sport we all love.”

Fiorentina wrote: “The Commisso family and all of Fiorentina express their condolences for the death of the Holy Father.”
