Southampton has fast-tracked Jay Robinson's upward career trajectory with a senior team promotion. With a flurry of incomings set to be made during the preseason, Robinson has been given a decent headstart to perform well in the next season.

When a squad collectively performs well, then it's wisely recommended to keep the playing combination intact. Otherwise, reshaping lineups and strategies despite having a clean fitness track record often ends up with a turbulent run of form and a plethora of regrets.

But these notions are largely restricted to senior-level football itself. In fact, refreshing the age-level squads can often come up with a deserving promotion reward for rising wonderkids.

Optimistically, Southampton fans are close to witnessing another such joyous occasion again.

Robinson earns significant preseason duration with senior team promotion

That's because Southampton's youth team manager Calum McFarlane has confirmed that a dream come true moment is on the cards for Jay Robinson.

As quoted by the Daily Echo, Calum spoke about Robinson: "Hopefully he can make his debut very soon. He will play for the under-21s if needed, but ideally, he will be with the first team."

Now, Southampton could have opted to integrate him in their plans during June which won't be considered too late at all.

But that scenario would've risked a full year of his present development had he taken longer to adjust to the men's team standards. In all honesty, preseason preparations often involve new faces in the beginning but rarely anyone of them stays there once the transfer window concludes.

Keeping these issues in mind, Southampton have intervened quickly to allow a bigger timeframe for Robinson to get accustomed of the demands and responsibilities coming his way.

Clearly, that doesn't mean Southampton will rely on him to bag the goals in the Championship but deploying him as a third-choice striker could reap brilliant rewards in a couple of years. Overall, the Saints have increased the fanbase's excitement in Robinson and let's hope he doesn't let them down.
