If Tuesday was a difficult day at Valdebebas, Real Madrid’s training facilities, Wednesday has become unbearable.

The confirmation of suspensions for Antonio Rudiger and Lucas Vazquez, combined with the injury setbacks for Rudiger, Ferland Mendy and David Alaba, came as serious blows on Tuesday.

But the situation surrounding manager Carlo Ancelotti has shaken Real Madrid’s training base even more.

Concerns at Real Madrid amid Ancelotti future saga

Indeed, as reported by journalists Alfredo Matilla and Rodra P, Wednesday morning’s training session at Real Madrid was anything but ordinary with the entire Ancelotti-Brazil saga hanging over their heads.

The Italian arrived late to yesterday’s session after returning from London, where he was meeting with the CBF officials to finalise his move. Later in the night, though, reports emerged that the move was set to collapse altogether.

As such, by Wednesday morning, as players arrived for training, the atmosphere was dominated by this saga and the situation was tough and tense.

Several within the club reflected on the challenges still ahead – five remaining La Liga fixtures, a key El Clasico, and the upcoming Club World Cup.

As such, questions about Ancelotti’s focus and commitment were raised: “How can he now demand the team to fight for La Liga if he’s been thinking about other things for a month?”

Concerns at the club began during the Champions League quarter-final against Arsenal. Internal discussions at Valdebebas focused more on Ancelotti’s future than tactical preparation at the time.

The presence of CBF envoy Diego Rodrigues at matches – first vs Arsenal and then against Barcelona – only contributed to the rising frustrations.

Sources from Valdebebas admit that the situation will be difficult to repair and do not rule out any outcome, however unlikely. Still, there is a shared commitment to end things with dignity.

However, at the same time, Real Madrid cannot afford to take their eye off the ball in the final run-in, especially with Barcelona having a four-point lead in the title race.
