Troy Deeney has picked his best 12 performers from the weekend action.
The Premier League team of the week (and manager) that have most impressed him.
Included in his dozen choices is one from Newcastle United.
This NUFC player playing a key role in the 3-0 victory over Leicester.
Troy Deeney explains why he has picked out Jacob Murphy for his Premier League team of the week and then the full eleven (twelve) are listed below:
Jacob Murphy (Newcastle):
“Two great goals, has he been the most underrated player this season?
“I would say I don’t know of anyone who has gone more under the radar, but has been a seven-and-a-half or an eight out of 10 every game.
“He’s been excellent.”
As Troy Deeney says, Jacob Murphy has continued to go under the radar for many of those outside the Newcastle United fanbase.
However, for Newcastle fans, I think the recognition of how good Murphy has been this season, was maybe a slow burner in the opening months of the season, but for some time now he has been doing the business and couldn’t be overlooked.
Maybe the biggest sign of this, is that now when Jacob Murphy is named in the starting eleven, I rarely, if ever, now see any negative reaction from any NUFC fans.
Worth pointing out though that against Leicester, both Tino Livramento and Fabian Schar were excellent as well, including doing most of the hard work on those two Jacob Murphy goals.
