After spending so many years acquiring players outside England’s top flight and hoping they quickly adjust, Manchester United have now set their sights on a Premier League-proven forward to bolster Ruben Amorim’s frontline.

Reinforcements in the attacking department are vital for the Red Devils heading into the transfer window, not least because this is the first summer of Amorim’s reign and, therefore, his first opportunity to be thoroughly backed by INEOS.

As such, United have already been linked with a host of top talent across Europe, including Hugo Ekitike, Xavi Simons, and Viktor Gyokeres, but they believe one player a little closer to home could help solve the side’s longstanding frontline woes.

Indeed, the Reds are now said to be targeting Bournemouth talisman Justin Kluivert, who is currently enjoying the most prolific campaign of his career.

Why it’s no surprise United are keen on Kluivert

Approaching the business end of the term, Kluivert has already outdone his highest goalscoring tally of 10 – achieved at Ajax in 2017/2018 – by finding the back of the net 12 times in 28 league appearances across 2024/2025. He has six assists to go along with that, as well as two goal contributions in three FA Cup games.

Perhaps his most notable display of the season came during the Cherries’ unexpected 4-1 thrashing of Newcastle United at St. James’ Park, during which Kluivert bagged a hat-trick and an assist to inspire his side’s emphatic victory on the road. The following week, he scored and assisted during Bournemouth’s 5-0 win over Nottingham Forest.

Now, CaughtOffside claims United have ‘added’ the 25-year-old to their shortlist after it was reported that the South Coast outfit would accept offers starting from £41 million for the clinical attacking whiz.

Kluivert, a five-capped Netherlands international, is tied to the Vitality Stadium until June 2028.
