Mikel Arteta and Arsenal will be backs against the wall when they clash with Real Madrid during their Champions League quarter-final clash.
And they will have to do it without arguably their best defender, Gabriel.
After picking up an injury in their 2-1 win over Fulham last time out in the Premier League, Gunners fans have received the news they were dreading.
Per an official update from the club, the Brazilian international has suffered a hamstring injury that will require surgery.
"Gabi will undergo a surgical repair procedure to his hamstring in the coming days, and immediately begin his recovery and rehabilitation programme, with the aim to be ready for the start of next season," the update said.
"Everyone at the club will be fully focused on supporting Gabi to ensure he is back to full fitness as soon as possible."
This comes in the wake of a rash of injuries the club has already suffered across its campaign, with Bukayo Saka, Kai Havertz, Gabriel Martinelli, Martin Ødegaard, Ricardo Calafiori, Ben White, Mikel Merino, and others having been bitten by the injury bug.
