Arsenal have received a significant boost as Bukayo Saka is fit again after three months out.
The England international underwent surgery after suffering a hamstring injury during Arsenal’s 5-1 victory over Crystal Palace on December 21.
He has missed several vital matches but should be able to return for Tuesday’s Premier League game against Fulham at the Emirates Stadium.
Saka has played 24 matches this season across all competitions, bagging nine goals and ten assists.
His absence has been keenly felt, but his return comes at a crucial time for Arsenal.
Speaking ahead of the Fulham match, manager Mikel Arteta confirmed Saka is ready to play.
When asked if the club needed to manage his minutes, Arteta explained: “Well, all the careful things he’s already done. So now it’s about putting him in the grass in the right moments.
“But he’s pushing because he really wants it. We have respected the timeframe, we have done everything, and we have had to hold him back even. So he’s ready to go.”
Asked whether Saka could start, Arteta replied: “Yes.”
While Saka’s return is a boost, Arteta provided a disappointing update on Riccardo Calafiori. The Italian defender picked up an injury while on international duty.
“It was really unfortunate the way it happened, but it could have been much worse – hopefully, it’s going to be a matter of weeks,” Arteta added. “But we’ll have to see how that injury evolves.
Arteta confirmed that Jurrien Timber is back after illness and is available to face Fulham.
Arsenal have not beaten Fulham in their last three meetings. Marco Silva’s side will pose a challenge, but the Gunners will hope Saka’s return makes the difference.
