According to a report by Spanish outlet SPORT, Barcelona are making advanced moves in their attempt to bring Liverpool attacker Luis Diaz in the summer. The versatile player will cost the Spanish club somewhere around €70-75 million.

Luis Díaz is an established name

Luis Díaz arrived at Liverpool in the summer of 2022 from FC Porto. Since then, he has been a solid performer for the club. Even under the new manager Arne Slot, the attacker has managed to keep a prominent role on the side.

Diaz has been a key contributor to the Reds’ decent season so far. He has netted 13 goals and provided five assists in 43 games so far. He is averaging 1.7 shots, 1.2 key passes, and 1.7 dribbles per game (stats via whoscored).

The Colombian attacker is versatile enough to play on the left flank or operate as a striker. He is good pace, decent dribbling skills, and creates goal scoring chances. He works hard off the ball and likes to cut in towards the goal.

High price for Luis Díaz

Barcelona have been linked with Luis Diaz for quite some time now and they continue to show interest in the player. Their sporting director Deco even met with the player’s representatives recently to discuss a potential summer move.

The Spanish outfit want to bring Diaz to strengthen their offensive unit, which is already working effectively. The 28-year-old’s experience and versatility can add a lot of value to Hansi Flick’s side. He is still at the peak of his powers and can contribute some important years.

However, signing Diaz won’t be easy as he is an important member of Liverpool’s squd. His signing will cost around €70-75 million, which means Barcelona will have to free up around €30 million in the salary cap. It can only happen if they manage to offload players in the summer.
