In the last few months, Jonathan Tah has emerged as a sought-after player ahead of the summer transfer window, with Barcelona identified as his preferred destination.

However, the German centre-back has also attracted interest from Premier League sides Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, as reported by Mundo Deportivo’s Roger Torello.

Tah’s current contract is set to expire at the end of the season, making him an appealing target for clubs looking to strengthen their defence.

His performances have been consistently strong, which has only increased his value in the transfer market. Despite Bayer Leverkusen’s repeated attempts to secure a contract extension, he has been reluctant to commit.

His main objective has always been to secure a move to Barcelona, a club where he enjoys the backing of Hansi Flick, his former coach with the German national team.

Tah will wait for Barcelona

While Tah is eager to wear the Barcelona shirt next season, the transfer is far from a certainty at this stage. This is because Barcelona must figure out financial fair play regulations and make key decisions regarding their defensive options.

The squad currently has six central defenders, including Andreas Christensen and Eric Garcia, whose contracts run until 2026.

Meanwhile, Ronald Araujo has a clause in his contract that allows him to leave for a lower release fee if he feels he is not receiving the level of importance he desires.

Despite his willingness to wait for Barcelona to sort out its financial situation, Tah is not short of other options. Premier League clubs have now entered the picture, with both Liverpool and Tottenham expressing interest in signing him.

With his contract winding down and multiple clubs keen on acquiring his services, the coming months will be crucial in determining where he ends up next season.
