Barcelona have confirmed striker Robert Lewandowski has picked up an injury which reports state will keep him out of the Copa del Rey final next weekend.

The Poland striker limped off with just over ten minutes remaining in Saturday's dramatic 4-3 comeback win over Celta Vigo - his 100th La Liga appearance ending without a goal.

Lewandowski was quickly sent for tests as Barcelona officials chased a verdict on whether he will be able to face Real Madrid in next week's Copa del Rey final, and unfortunataly for the La Liga leaders, it is not good news.

"Tests carried out this Sunday have confirmed that first-team player Robert Lewandowski has an injury to the semitendinosus muscle in his left thigh," a statement read. "His return to team training will depend on how the injury progresses."

While Barcelona have declined to put a timeframe on Lewandowski's recovery, SPORT state the veteran forward will not make it to the cup final as he is expected to need at least two weeks on the sidelines.

That absence could extend to four weeks depending on the severity of Lewandowski's ailment.

The injury comes at a nightmare time for Barcelona as, after the Copa del Rey final, they will switch their attention to the first leg of their Champions League semi-final against Inter, which kicks off on April 30.

If Lewandowski needs an extended spell on the sidelines, he could even miss the return leg on May 6. There is also a La Liga Clasico against Madrid five days later, which could be crucial in the title race if it is not already decided by then.

In his place will likely come Ferran Torres, who cut a frustrated figure when he was substituted against Celta.
