Barcelona’s injured superstar hopeful of participating in key matches in final phase of season | OneFootball

Barcelona have had to deal with relatively fewer injuries this season, but one of the players who has missed the majority of the campaign so far is Marc-Andre Ter Stegen.

The German international had picked up a knee injury in September 2024 and has had to spend time on the sidelines since.

In his absence, Barcelona have roped in Wojciech Szczesny, who has performed admirably since returning from retirement and is currently one of La Liga’s best-performing goalkeepers this year.

That said, Barcelona may soon have Ter Stegen back in action as the German has made a speedy recovery. He is even hopeful of playing before the season ends.

According to SPORT, Ter Stegen is very excited about the progress Barça have made this season under the leadership of Hansi Flick.

The former Borussia Monchengladbach goalkeeper, therefore, is looking forward to his return and presence during a crucial part of the campaign.

Indeed, Ter Stegen may return to full fitness around May. The German even hopes to participate in the Champions League final, provided Barça qualify.

In addition to the UCL final, ter Stegen is also looking forward to Barcelona’s scheduled Clasico in La Liga in May, which will be played at Montjuic.

However, whether or not Ter Stegen will be given a direct entry to the starting eleven upon his return remains doubtful, especially given the way Szczesny has been performing this year.

One way or another, Flick will have a crucial decision to make as he awaits the return of one of Barcelona’s most influential figures in the dressing room.
