Inter fought back with two goals in three minutes from Lautaro Martinez and Benjamin Pavard, then held on for a 2-2 draw with Bayern Munich, so will face Barcelona in the Champions League semi-final.
The Nerazzurri won the first leg 2-1, ending a 22-match unbeaten home run in the competition with Lautaro Martinez and Davide Frattesi goals. Federico Dimarco returned to the starting XI from injury, with Denzel Dumfries and Piotr Zielinski still out and Tucu Correa cup-tied. Bayern continued to miss Manuel Neuer, Jamal Musiala, Dayot Upamecano, Alphonso Davies and Hiroki Ito, but Kingsley Coman and Aleksandar Pavlovic returned, with Thomas Muller preferred to Raphael Guerreiro.
Benjamin Pavard made an early block on Michael Olise’s shot, while Dimarco slipped at the crucial moment to drill straight at Jonas Urbig. Alessandro Bastoni needed a perfectly-timed sliding tackle to stop Olise going clear on goal from a Muller assist.
The offside flag went up, perhaps incorrectly, when Francesco Acerbi and then Marcus Thuram flicked a Dimarco free kick inches wide of the far post.
Hakan Calhanoglu’s scorcher flashed just wide from outside the area, but Bayern had a double opportunity when Yann Sommer was drawn out of position, so Muller’s shot was charged down and the goalkeeper parried from Leroy Sané.

Thuram was too weak after the restart, going down easily under Konrad Laimer’s pressure after spinning away from Eric Dier.
Kane flicked on a Dimarco cross from the short corner routine, forcing teammate Urbig into a tricky reaction save at the near post.
Moments later, Kane was decisive at the other end, as a poor clearance was knocked back in for the England international, who threaded his finish through the eye of a needle and Dimarco’s legs into the far bottom corner.

It was now all square on aggregate and this was the fourth goal Inter had conceded in the entire Champions League campaign.
Thuram slipped as his strike was smothered by Urbig, while Muller wasted the chance to turn the tie around when ballooning over the bar as it was rolled across from the right.

Inter got right back on track within six minutes, as Lautaro Martinez nodded Dimarco’s corner onto Joshua Kimmich and was then quick to react by firing in the rebound from seven yards.

Suddenly, the momentum had shifted once more and the Nerazzurri were pouring forward, Dier making a desperate goal-line clearance to deny Matteo Darmian’s angled drive.
On the resulting Calhanoglu corner, Inter took the lead on the night for 4-2 on aggregate, Pavard getting his debut goal for the club with a towering header from six yards.

It still wasn’t over, because Sommer made a big reaction save on Olise at the back post, then on the resulting short corner, Serge Gnabry’s cross found Dier at the by-line, his header taking an odd loop mid-air to float into the far top corner from the tightest of angles.

In the final minute of normal time, Sommer flapped at an awkwardly bouncing ball, which Kane then fired over the bar, then after a long spell of pressure, Sommer plucked the Kane header out of the air.
