Chelsea are reportedly embroiled in a two-horse race for Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho whose future at Old Trafford remains anything but certain.
Over the past few days, almost every top source in football has confirmed that the Red Devils are closing in on an agreement with Matheus Cunha.
The Premier League giants have apparently identified the Wolves star as the right profile for the left attacking midfielder role. He would thus complete an attacking trident that pits him alongside Amad Diallo, with a new centre-forward leading the charge.
Nevertheless, the Brazilian won’t come cheap, as his release clause is worth £62.5 million, and Wolves are in no mood to offer discounts.
Therefore, the sentiment around Carrington is that INEOS will likely have to make major sacrifices in order to fund this operation alongside others (including a new centre-forward), and perhaps offloading loaned-out stars Antony, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho might prove insufficient.

Hence, United could find themselves forced to sell Garnacho, who’s been in and out of the starting lineup since Ruben Amorim’s arrival.
According to Fichajes.net, this could prompt a tug-of-war between Chelsea and Napoli who appear to be the early frontrunners in the race to land the 20-year-old.
Both clubs have been heavily linked with the Argentina international over the past few months, particularly since January.
The Serie A giants emerged as the favourites to land Garnacho in the winter after collecting £59 million from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s sale to Paris Saint-Germain, while the player’s agent fueled rumours of a move to West London when he posted a picture of himself at Stamford Bridge.
In the meantime, the young winger remains a fan favourite at Old Trafford, and someone who has already earned the esteem of pundits and observers, including Roy Keane who described him as a ‘dangerous’ player.
Nevertheless, INEOS would likely sanction his departure for the right offer, especially if Amorim doesn’t oppose the operation.
