Chelsea to return for double swoop on January targets who may be available at a PSR discount

Chelsea and Manchester United are in a similar situation, as much as it pains us to say it.
Both great clubs who were competing for the biggest titles not long ago, who have now been bogged down in a morass created by their ownership, and now drift further and further away from the top teams as they continue to thrash around spending money with little return.
Man U’s atrophy (no pun intended) has been going for longer, while ours has been more of a sudden onset collapse. Right now we’re in the same spot however, desperate to clear some PSR and wage bill headroom by clearing out the last wave of unsuccessful signings so we can get to work on bringing in the next one.
In Manchester United’s case, they certainly want to move on former star player Marcus Rashford. He’s done well on loan at Aston Villa and both sides will hope to work out a deal there.

But there are also whispers about two other young players leaving, with Chelsea interest in both. Chris Wheeler’s Man U Confidential claims that Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho, both linked with us back in January, remain targets for the Blues.
As “pure profit” players for Man U, their sales are heavily incentivised and a lot will depend on how Ruben Amorim sees them as fits (or not) for his project going forward. Given our success raiding former Manchester City academy players, these names do seem to fit very nicely with what we’re looking to do.
Garnacho has had a bit of an up and down season, but Mainoo would be a really popular signing with a lot of Blues fans we reckon.
