Kyle Walker has Inter in his sights as he gears up to return from injury, and in the meantime AC Milan are planning to negotiate to keep him.

According to Calciomercato.com, Walker is targeting the derby against Inter on April 23. The English full-back, who underwent surgery last week for a fractured right elbow, is working to return to Sergio Conceicao’s side for the most important match of the season.

It is difficult but not impossible, while Milan need the experience of the former Manchester City man in a match that the Nerazzurri are favourites in. This is despite the fact that the four derbies this season have seen the Rossoneri prevail on two occasions, with two draws.

In terms of his future, Walker has tried to bring all his winning mentality to training, also working on his less experienced and struggling teammates such as Yunus Musah. The field, however, has shown a defender who is certainly reliable but light years away from his best version.

The Diavolo have some doubts about him staying, less so Manchester City who have reiterated to his entourage that they consider his exciting and winning cycle concluded. Walker for his part is happy in Milano and would like to start next season with Milan.

To achieve this he will have to raise the bar at the end of this season also to convince the club to invest in him. At the moment the only possible solution would be to renegotiate the terms of the agreement as Milan will not pay the €5m option to buy, but might pay around €1-2m.
