Henrikh Mkhitaryan admits his “physical condition is declining” but says he can “still play at this level” for Inter Milan.

The Armenian spoke to Fast Sport, via FCInterNews, ahead of this week’s Champions League showdown against Barcelona.

There is no hiding the fact that midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan is 36 years of age.

That has not stopped the veteran midfielder from having an enormous impact at Inter Milan.

Mkhitaryan has certainly relied on his technical quality in his role in the Nerazzurri midfield trio.

However, at the same time Mkhitaryan has also been a tireless runner in midfield for Inter.

There have, however, been some signs that Mkhitaryan is in decline. Particularly in some matches this season.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan has featured for many clubs prominently. These have included Shakhtar Donetsk, Borussia Dortmund, Manchester United, Arsenal, and Roma.

Therefore, there are inevitable doubts about just how much longer he can keep it up.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan reflected, “I’ve been to several countries, I’ve had difficult moments in my life.”

“Now I’m happy to be here,” he said of being at Inter.

Meanwhile, Mkhitaryan called his Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi “very intelligent.”

The Armenikan also described Inzaghi as a “friendly” person.

“He shows it both on and off the pitch.”

Then, Mkhitaryan also looked back on his time at Inter so far. “I arrived at Inter at 33 years of age,” he said. “And now I’m 36.”

“At this age it’s not easy,” he admitted. “Because your physical condition is declining.”

“But I’m grateful that I’m still able to play at this level.”

Mkhitaryan insisted that “I’m proving to myself, and also to the world, that I have the quality to play at this age.”
