Former Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood is facing an uncertain future at Olympique de Marseille ahead of the summer transfer window.

After a period of suspension at United, Greenwood slowly rediscovered his form at Getafe during the 2023/24 campaign. His impressive stint in LaLiga led to a big move to Marseille.

The Phocaeans agreed a deal worth over £26 million with United to secure his services on a permanent transfer before the start of the current campaign.

The ex-Red Devil took little time to establish himself as the side’s most important attacker under Roberto De Zerbi. In fact, only Ousmane Dembélé (21) has scored more goals than Greenwood (15) in Ligue 1 this term.

However, the Englishman finds himself in hot water in the south of France due to his tricky relationship with De Zerbi.

Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming Greenwood was involved in a heated exchange with the ex-Brighton and Hove Albion manager during a training session.

Now, a report from La Provence (via Get French Football News) claims that Greenwood has just two months between now and the end of the season to win back De Zerbi’s trust or the 23-year-old could be kicked out of Marseille.

The versatile forward has received backlash from De Zerbi for his work ethic as well as his physical condition.

The Italian even dropped his talisman to the bench in back-to-back outings against Lens and Paris Saint-Germain. Marseille lost both games.

If things don’t improve, a host of clubs could attempt to take advantage of the situation at Marseille as he has attracted plenty of interest with his goalscoring prowess.

United would be interested in any possible movement as the Red Devils stand to make a huge profit on his sale as they included a 50 per cent sell-on clause before parting ways last summer.

However, it is suggested that Greenwood is determined to fight for his place in De Zerbi’s squad as he returned to training early during the international break to get back into shape. The manager has reportedly admired the effort.
