Exclusive: Arsenal Legend Heaps Praise on Liverpool Star’s ‘Oustanding’ Season

As the end of the 2025/25 season draws closer, Liverpool are just one win away from securing the Premier League title. In fact, should Arsenal lose to Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night, then the Reds would be confirmed as champions.

Some have suggested that Arne Slot has been lucky or fortunate to find himself at the top of the Premier League table, but Arsenal legend Ray Parlour is firmly against that idea.

Parlour spoke exclusively to EPL Index and shared his thoughts on Liverpool’s season and praised one ‘outstanding’ player for his contributions…

Liverpool: ‘Deserved’ Champions

“Liverpool have absolutely been the most consistent team this season and deserve to be champions,” began Parlour.

Slot’s side currently sit 13 points clear at the top of the Premier League table with just five games to go. Across their 33 Premier League games so far, the Reds have racked up 79 points and have lost just two games; coming against Nottingham Forest and Fulham.

Arsenal currently sit on 66 points and still have to travel to face Slot’s side at Anfield on 11th May, where they will likely give a guard of honour to Liverpool, who are expected to have secured the title by then.

If Mikel Arteta’s side beat Crystal Palace on Wednesday, then Liverpool will have the chance to win the title at Anfield and in-front of fans for the first time in 35 years when they face Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

Player of the Season: ‘Outstanding’ Liverpool Star a Worthy Winner

Whilst the focus remains on team achievements at the moment, conversations over the Premier League’s Player of the Season award will be starting to ramp up over the next few weeks.

However, Parlous believes there’s no such conversation needed for this year’s award and named Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah as the worthy winner for the presitigious award.

“His goal and assist numbers are outstanding. To be top of both charts means that you must be doing something right and he has had a very good season,” said Parlour.

“I don’t see anyone close to him for this award, so you have to credit both him and Liverpool for an excellent season.”

Other than Salah, his teammates Virgil Van Dijk, Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch all deserve honourable mentions for their solid campaigns. Across the rest of the league, Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak has been nothing short of electric, whilst Arsenal’s Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka have enjoyed good seasons.
