Following a 3-2 win in the battle of the Borussias, the Black and Yellows now sit in 7th place, only 4 points shy of 4th place. With four games remaining until the end of the Bundesliga season, Niko Kovac’s side must make every game count to reach their targets.

Following his return from the ankle injury he suffered in late January, Nmecha has played an important role in Borussia Dortmund’s late renaissance in the league. Nmecha has managed to find the back of the net on Sunday and has been crucial in Borussia Dortmund’s unbeaten league run as the side managed to pick itself up from the bottom half of the league table.

BVB has won three of their last four Bundesliga games. The only draw in this run came against league leaders Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena. Despite losing 4-0 in the first leg of their quarter-final game against Barcelona, the team put on an admirable performance at home to win 3-1. Even though the result wasn’t enough to reverse the deficit, many agreed that it could energize the side for the remaining league games.

For the first time in a topsy-turvy season, Borussia Dortmund have managed to find themselves in good shape. Among the players who have helped the team find form is Nmecha. His ability to control the game, his measured long balls, press resistance, ability to be calm under pressure, in addition to his attacking threat, have made him a crucial member of the side.

Nmecha has made 22 appearances in the Bundesliga this season, scoring three goals and assisting one. He has made 665 accurate passes, which translates to 88.1% of the passes he attempted according to SofaScore. He also has 77.1% accuracy when it comes to long balls. Furthermore, Nmecha has made 11 key passes in the final third.

Nmecha’s good form has caught the attention of a few European giants, with Manchester United closely monitoring his progress. There were reports suggesting that Ruben Amorim’s side can spend up to 40 million Euros on the 24-year-old German midfielder. However, reports also indicated that Borussia Dortmund are currently not interested in selling one of their key players.

As Dortmund push for a European spot in the remaining games, the impact of Nmecha will be vital. With Serhou Guirassy and Maximilian Beier scoring goals up front and Kobel alongside his defenders playing their respective roles at the back, Nmecha will be tasked with controlling matters in the middle of the park. Nmecha will play an important role against Hoffenheim this weekend, especially with Pascal Groß's abscence.
