Barcelona manager Hansi Flick faced the media ahead of Tuesday’s crucial La Liga fixture against Mallorca.
The manager offered insights on his players, tactics, and how the squad is managing in the absence of key figures like Robert Lewandowski and Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
Flick began by praising the opposition, acknowledging that Mallorca have had a strong season, and warned that the match will be anything but easy.
“They’re having a very good season. They have the opportunity to play in Europe next season. It’ll be a tough match. They’re one of the best in transition.”

With Lewandowski out, Flick was cautious about offering a timeline for his return. “We’ll have to wait and see. When he’s available to play, we’ll all be very happy. We don’t know how long he’ll be out, so I’d rather not say anything.”
Despite the striker’s absence, Flick was quick to shift the spotlight to Ferran Torres, who is expected to lead the line in Lewandowski’s absence.
“Ferran is in a very good moment, he’s scored ten La Liga goals. The number 9 position is his now. He’s quick, presses well, and contributes defensively.
“He’s in very good form, but we have to manage because we need him until the end of the season.”
Meanwhile, it must be noted that Ter Stegen’s recovery appears to be going well, though Flick is in no rush to throw him into the action.
“He’s ready, ready. We need to talk about what we need to do. I’ll talk to him. We’ll wait a bit and decide when the best time is for him to reappear.”
When asked about players upset over a lack of minutes, particularly in reference to Ansu Fati, whose outburst after the Celta Vigo match drew attention, Flick didn’t hold back.

“I can understand players not being happy, I’ve been there. But I can’t understand the reaction after the game. We won after coming from behind. Everyone should celebrate the victory. That’s what I want to see.”
His words show a clear line of authority and expectation—Flick values professionalism and team unity over individual frustration.
Flick also highlighted Raphinha’s consistency and leadership, underscoring how Raphinha embodies the professionalism he wants throughout the team.
“Raphinha and all the players are doing a fantastic job. They’re leaders, and that’s what we need. I’m very happy with the team, with what they’re doing on the pitch, and with how they prepare for the next match.”
Reflecting on the win over Celta Vigo, Flick noted that while Frenkie de Jong was vital, there are still areas for improvement, particularly when the ball is lost.
“There were four or five situations during the game I didn’t like. When we have possession, we must be alert in transitions. We still have to improve defensively.”
Lastly, when asked about the potential distraction of the Copa del Rey final, Flick dismissed any suggestion of divided focus.
“No. We know they’re two different competitions, and Real Madrid also wants to win. After this match, there will be more Champions League and La Liga matches to come,” he concluded.
