Former Chelsea star Frank Leboeuf has suggested Cole Palmer could be sold this summer and claimed the ownership are only interested in making money.

Palmer has been nothing short of a revelation since arriving from Manchester City in the summer of 2023, and had a record breaking campaign last season, which culminated in him being named Premier League Young Player of the Year.

The England international started this season how he ended the last, although he’s now going through a difficult spell.

Leboeuf thinks Chelsea could sell Palmer

Palmer has scored 14 goals and provided seven assists this season, but he’s not scored since the 2-2 draw with Bournemouth in the middle of January.

His assist in the win against Tottenham earlier this month was his first of 2025, and the England international currently looks a shadow of himself.

Maresca stated earlier this month why he feels Palmer is struggling, and the attacker has too much quality not to get back to his best.

The Italian did concede if Palmer and Jackson don’t start scoring again then Chelsea won’t qualify for the Champions League.

There’s been questions about Palmer’s future if the Blues don’t get Champions League football, and Leboeuf has suggested Chelsea could sell him this summer.

“Sure, they give big, long contracts for young players but if they can make a profit, then they will sell them, that’s the goal,” he said as cited on X.com.

“Cole Palmer, who was bought for £40m, could be sold for 120 or 130 million in the summer if they got an offer. I think they will take the money and buy two younger players.”

It would seem unthinkable that Chelsea would sell Palmer given his impact, not to mention he signed a two year extension last year keeping him at the club until 2033.

However, Chelsea can’t keep missing out on the Champions League and not challenging for major trophies, otherwise their top players will think about leaving.
