Gabriel Martinelli’s time at Arsenal has had its highs and lows, but he’s hitting top form just when the team needs it most.

On Sunday, the Brazilian netted his 50th goal for the club, becoming one of the youngest players to reach that milestone in an Arsenal shirt.

The Gunners cruised to a 4–0 win over Ipswich Town — a result that didn’t do much to shake up the title race, which still looks to be Liverpool’s to lose — but it did give morale a lift and pretty much confirmed their place in next season’s Champions League.

Martinelli was on the pitch for 73 minutes and grabbed one of the goals — his 50th for the club.

Now in his sixth season at Arsenal, he became the fourth-youngest player to hit 50 goals for the club in the Premier League era, behind only Bukayo Saka, Cesc Fàbregas, and Theo Walcott — with Saka the only one to do it before turning 23.

He’s now scored in his last two appearances and has already bettered his numbers from earlier in the season, sitting on nine goals and five assists from 44 games. His best return so far came in 2022/23, when he scored 15 and laid on six assists.

Despite a season full of injury setbacks — Martinelli included — Arsenal have turned their attention to the Champions League. After knocking out holders and favourites Real Madrid, they’ll now face Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-finals.
