AC Milan produced what might well have been their best performance of the season last night, beating Inter 3-0 to reach the Coppa Italia final.

With the first leg having finished 1-1, it was all to play for at San Siro and with Inter as the ‘home’ team. After weathering a bit of pressure, Milan completely dismantled their city rivals from there, with a Luka Jovic brace and a late Tijjani Reijnders strike sealing a 3-0 win on the night.

The Rossoneri will find out their opponents soon but it is almost certain to be Bologna after their 3-0 first leg victory over Empoli. The final will take place in Rome in the middle of next month.

Today’s front pages

As expected, the Italian media have gone with a mix of yesterday’s Serie A action and of course Milan’s resounding derby win.

La Gazzetta dello Sport: “Only Milan. They dominate the derby and go to the Coppa Italia final. Inter collapse, farewell to the treble. Conceiçao is the Nerazzurri’s nightmare. Jovic brace and Reijnders. Inzaghi: ‘Tired, but no excuses’.”

Corriere dello Sport: “Milan masters, Inter overwhelmed. Coppa Italia: Conceiçao in the final: 3-0 to Inzaghi. The treble dream vanishes. Jovic brace, Reijnders closes it.”

Tuttosport: “Milan olé: Inter, goodbye treble. Coppa Italia: in the final through Jovic (two goals) and Reijnders. Inzaghi furious. Surprising move: the Serbian crushes the Nerazzurri, in a psychological tilt, the Dutchman signs the 3-0. Conceiçao king of derbies, he can win another trophy.”

QS: “A comeback by the Diavolo. Coppa Italia, Jovic brace and Reijnders: 3-0 against Inter, Milan in the final.”
