Barcelona maintain their comfortable lead at the top of the league table thanks to a 1-0 win over Mallorca.
Contrary to what the scoreline might suggest, it was a one-sided game with Barcelona completely dominating the opposition with their attacking might.
However, resilience shown by the Mallorca defence, including goalkeeper Leo Roman, meant that the Catalans had to rely on Dani Olmo’s early second-half strike to secure all three points.
Speaking to the media after the game, Barcelona midfielder Gavi talked about the team’s performance and how he was surprised that the scoreline ended only 1-0.
“We created a lot of chances, but that’s football. We kept pushing, and in the end, we scored. So I’m very happy,” he said.
When asked about the importance of reaching the Copa Del Rey final with at least a four-point lead over Real Madrid, the midfielder replied, “We’re focusing on ourselves. We’re taking things game by game. We want to get three points in every match.

“I think we played a great match in all aspects. This is a very big win for us. Because on Saturday we have a very big final, and we needed to win today’s match.”
Speaking of the 1-0 scoreline, Mallorca goalkeeper Leo Roman ended up making 12 saves on the night.
Talking about Roman’s performances, Gavi said, “I couldn’t believe it. He was fantastic today, he played a really great game. But in the end, we managed to score. And that’s what matters.”
Gavi also talked about his midfield teammate Pedri, who was one of Barcelona’s top performers on the night.
“For me, if he’s not the best in his position, he’s one of the best. He’s fun to play with, and honestly, I enjoy it a lot. I’m very happy he’s in such good shape,” he said.
Gavi was also happy about Ansu Fati, who was given a rare start by Hansi Flick.
“I’m very happy for him because he’s like a brother to me, and honestly, I’m very proud of him. He played a great match and I’m very happy for him,” he said.
Finally, Gavi admitted that he is ‘looking forward to the Copa Del Rey final‘ this weekend, which will be played at Estadio de la Cartuja in Seville.
