Following their 1-0 win over Mallorca in La Liga, FC Barcelona have a crucial game awaiting them as they face Real Madrid in the final of the Copa del Rey on Saturday.
Winning the cup is one of the objectives for Hansi Flick, and winning this trophy will mean the Blaugrana team has 1 more trophy in the bag as they aim to win the treble.
The German coach will be without some of his important players for this game. Marc Bernal has been recovering from his injury since the first phase of the season, while Alejandro Balde and Robert Lewandowski also suffered injuries recently and thus remain unlikely to be available for this game.
However, according to SPORT, the Barcelona coach will still call up all of his players for this game, including the injured ones, with the intention of promoting unity and harmony in the squad.
There is no doubt that this is one of the most important games of the season, and Flick would want to have all the players who have played a part in their current campaign to be there, irrespective of whether they are able to contribute on the pitch. This idea could also be repeated for the second leg of the UCL semi-final tie against Inter Milan.
Marc Andre Ter Stegen has already recovered from his injury, and was expected to be called up for this game. However, he might not start just yet, and may even have to wait till the next season to get back on the pitch as the coaching staff has decided to end the season with Wojciech Szczesny as the team’s starting goalkeeper.
However, the German can still play this season, especially in Barcelona able to wrap up the league title with some games to spare.
On the other hand, Marc Bernal will also be present to support his team in this final, even though he is currently targeting to return to full fitness for the next preseason. Hopefully, the presence of these players will help the Catalans get the better of their arch-rivals in this final.
