Recent form

Arsenal eased past Real Madrid in the quarter-final with a 3-0 win in the first-leg. Goals from Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli in Spain sealed the tie and a 5-1 aggregate victory. Arsenal have been out of the title race for a long time and have played out three consecutive Premier League draws against Everton, Brentford and Crystal Palace respectively, however a 4-0 win against Ipswich on the weekend could have put them back on track.

Paris Saint Germain survived a late surge from Aston Villa in their quarter-final after winning the first leg. A 3-2 loss to Villa in the second leg was enough to see the Parisians through. They have already won the Ligue 1 title so results in the league are less important to them, but they did lose their invincible status in a 3-1 defeat by Nice at the weekend, despite putting out a strong side.

What’s been said?

Even though they have already beaten the champions of Europe this season, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta believes that tonight’s fixture will really show how good his team is and he is keen for his side to create history.

“This is a moment now to say this is who we are as a team, this is who I am as an individual and express themselves,” he said.

Arteta added: “It’s an incredible opportunity. We are here to make people happy, to create history and we are very close. Now we have to take the opportunity and make it happen.”

Arsenal have already beaten PSG in the Champions League this year but PSG manager Luis Enrique believes his side are a different proposition now.

“That was seven or eight months ago,” the Spainard said. “I saw the match again. We’re a much better team today.

“We had a very intense group phase, with a lot of games that could have been finals. So I think that made things difficult because we were in a difficult position, but it has made us much stronger and we are more complete.”
