According to Africa Foot, the 31-year-old has already made contact with two clubs in English football over a move in the upcoming transfer window.

The Nigeria international’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season, meaning he will be available as a free agent.

With an extension unlikely at this stage, he will be keeping his options open for the next move in his career.

It’s believed that Ajayi has interest from both Hull and Reading over a potential move this summer.

It’s expected that the defender will move on from West Brom at the end of the campaign, with the club now looking for a new manager.

Both Hull and Reading are believed to have made an approach to Ajayi, but it remains unclear what the next step in his career will be.

The Nigerian has been with the Baggies since the summer of 2019, arriving from Rotherham United.

But his game time has been reduced in recent seasons, gradually falling down the pecking order since the club’s relegation from the Premier League in 2021.

Ajayi has made 14 appearances in the Championship so far this season.

Semi Ajayi’s West Brom future

Ajayi’s agent, Larry Oban, has claimed that a lack of serious interest from West Brom has led to it being likely he will move on from the Hawthorns.

He revealed that the 31-year-old is happy at the club, but he is open to leaving if an offer doesn’t arrive, confirming talks with EFL rivals.

“He will certainly leave West Brom because they have not shown any serious intention of renewing his contract,” said Oban, via Africa Foot.

“He's happy there, but he'll leave if they don't make an offer.

“He is already in talks with Reading and Hull, who admire his versatility and experience.

“An evaluation will take place in the coming weeks, but he'll be somewhere next season.”

Ajayi could be a useful signing for Hull or Reading

There is still a lot of uncertainty surrounding Reading at the moment due to issues with the owner, but they’ve had a promising campaign on the pitch.

Meanwhile, Hull have struggled to maintain their level of competitiveness from last year, and are in danger of relegation.

Any decision over Ajayi’s future likely won’t be made until it’s clear what division these two clubs will be competing in next year, as it’s still possible one goes up and one goes down.
