It has been reported all throughout the last few months that Marc-Andre ter Stegen is slowly returning to full fitness.
The German has recovered quite quickly and is hopeful of making his return before the season ends. Fortunately for him, it seems the time has finally come.
According to COPE, there is a possibility ter Stegen could make his return to the Barcelona squad for the upcoming Copa Del Rey final against Real Madrid.
This is quite significant considering the fact that ter Stegen hasn’t played for Barça for the majority of the campaign.
His spell on the sidelines has allowed Wojciech Szczesny to establish himself almost as an untouchable in the Barcelona goal.

The Pole has lost only once in the 24 matches he has played for Barcelona this season. Therefore, it will be interesting to see how the power dynamics change once the German returns to action.
That said, COPE clarifies that even if ter Stegen does make the Barcelona squad for the Copa Del Rey final, he won’t necessarily play.
The goalkeeper, after all, is coming back from a long injury layoff and must be convinced of his fitness before he is eligible to start any matches for Barcelona.
His mere presence in the squad, though, will be a positive sign, as far as Barcelona are concerned.
The latest update surrounding ter Stegen’s fitness, earlier in the month, had suggested that the goalkeeper has returned to full training. Hence, the goalkeeper’s return to action might not be far away.
