Jamie Vardy wants to remain in the Premier League after leaving Leicester City this summer, according to Sky Sports.
The Englishman has ruled out a move to the Championship despite rumours of interest from several clubs, including newly-promoted Wrexham.
The 38-year-old striker confirmed he will leave Leicester when his contract expires in June and will be available on a free transfer this summer.
After 13 years at the King Power Stadium, where he famously helped Leicester to a Premier League title against the odds, Vardy is determined to stay in the top flight.
The former England international has scored 198 goals in 497 appearances for Leicester. He also lifted the FA Cup and claimed a Premier League Golden Boot.
Vardy has no plans to hang up his boots and believes he can still compete at the highest level.
Wrexham owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney reportedly wanted to bring Vardy to the Racecourse Ground after their promotion to the Championship.
However, the veteran striker is not interested in dropping down a division.
He remains focused on securing a move to a Premier League side, turning down overtures from Major League Soccer (MLS) and Saudi Pro League (SPL) clubs.
Vardy is convinced he still has the sharpness and experience to make an impact in the Premier League.
He could still prove to be a valuable asset for clubs such as Burnley or Leeds United, who are returning to the Premier League.
Vardy’s experience, leadership and proven goalscoring instincts could be what a newly promoted side needs to secure survival in the upcoming season.
