FC Barcelona added another trophy to their cabinet last night as they won the Copa del Rey for the 32nd time. The Blaugranes beat their arch-rivals Real Madrid in the hard-fought final that went into extra time, a feat that allowed them to clinch the title.

Naturally, the Catalans were very happy with this achievement, and according to a recent report, the team’s celebrations after the win went on till dawn.

However, not everyone is happy with this latest success being enjoyed by Barcelona. This is particularly the case with some of the fans of RCD Espanyol, as Mundo Deportivo notes how they have been showcasing their displeasure on social media.

After winning the final, the Blaugrana club posted a message on their social media celebrating their triumph, which went as: “The Cup is ours.”

A few minutes after this post, Espanyol congratulated their neighbors, as they responded to the post with the following statement: “Congratulations, Barcelona, on the Copa del Rey title.”

However, this simple and cordial message did not sit well with Espanyol’s fans, who have been upset and showcasing their displeasure. Comments like “Delete it”, “What disrespect is this for the fans?”, and “the person who suffers bullying congratulating their bully!” were written by the fans on their club’s post.

Some of the criticisms from the fans were aimed at Mao Ye, the Espanyol CEO, who is accused of not understanding the club’s culture.

Rivalry between these two Barcelona clubs goes a long way, and as is the case with Real Madrid, this Blaugrana rivalry with Espanyol also goes beyond the pitch to take on social and political colors.

However, greetings like these are still common between them, as Barcelona had sent out a message on social media to congratulate Espanyol when they were promoted to La Liga last season.
