Manchester United will ramp up their interest in Southampton winger Tyler Dibling if they manage to qualify for next season's Champions League, a report has revealed.
While they will not reach Europe's top competition through their Premier League performance, United can still qualify for the Champions League if they win the Europa League. They face Athletic Club in the semi-final before a potential meeting with either Bodo/Glimt or Tottenham Hotspur in the final.
Should they qualify and secure the riches that come with playing in the Champions League - an estimated £80m - then ESPN state United will firm up their interest in 19-year-old Dibling, who is also on the radar of Manchester City, Tottenham and Bayern Munich.
Southampton are prepared to demand a whopping £100m to sell Dibling, who has just 39 senior appearances to his name. While this latest update claims such a fee is highly ambitious for the Saints, it shows Dibling will not be allowed to leave for cheap despite Southampton's relegation to the Championship.
United are likely to need the Champions League income to be able to compete with their rivals to sign Dibling and will, therefore, only pursue a move if they manage to win the Europa League and qualify.
Winger is not the priority area for United this summer. The Red Devils are focusing their efforts on signing a new striker, with Ipswich Town's Liam Delap known to be high up the wish list.
There is also an awareness that United need a new midfielder and these positions will take priority over a summer move for Dibling because the club's spending power is likely to be dictated by player sales.
There are hopes that Marcus Rashford, Antony and Jadon Sancho will all leave the club for over £80m combined, while there could be offers for Alejandro Garnacho, Kobbie Mainoo, Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee, all of whom could command significant sums.
