Manchester City have been the dominant force in the Premier League in the last few seasons. However, this season, they have been far from their usual best and are even struggling to finish within the top four by the end of the season. The summer transfer window might see a lot of changes in the squad and a number of players might be on their way out of the club.
Give Me Sport has reported that Barcelona want to strengthen their midfield after having a sensational season under Hansi Flick and are targeting Bernardo Silva from Manchester City. However, Pep Guardiola’s side are not ready to let the Portugal international leave the club this summer.
He has been one of the most important players at Manchester City in the last few seasons and enjoys a good relationship with Pep Guardiola. Silva has scored three goals and provided four assists in 29 matches so far in the Premier League 2024/2025 season. Although he is 30 years old, the Portugal international still remains a wanted player because of his qualities.
Silva is a midfield magician—nimble, clever, and tireless. His pinpoint passing, smooth dribbling, and tactical brain shine in tight spaces. Versatile and clutch, he presses relentlessly and delivers in big moments. With vision and work rate, Silva is a complete player, elevating any team with his understated brilliance.
City feel that he will be an important player for the club for at least one more season and are not ready to part ways with Silva this summer. Man City are right to hold onto Bernardo Silva despite Barcelona’s interest. He is their creative spark, irreplaceable in Pep’s system. Letting him go would weaken the squad.
His versatility and big-game mentality are worth more than any fee—City need him to keep dominating. However, if they do get a good offer for him, they should be looking to sell him and buy a proper replacement. We have to wait and see what finally unfolds in this transfer saga.
