Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has confirmed that Diogo Dalot could miss the remainder of the season with a calf injury.

Dalot has been a regular for Man Utd this season, making 51 appearances across all competitions which is the most - along with Alejandro Garnacho - in the entire first-team squad.

However, after suffering a calf problem, not only will the defender sit out Sunday’s Premier League clash away to Bournemouth, but he’s a massive doubt to play again before the campaign is over.

When asked in the pre-Bournemouth press conference as to whether Dalot’s 2024/25 campaign has ended prematurely, Amorim said: "There is that possibility but I don't know, we will check week by week, because he works really hard, he can recover quite well, so we will see.

"He has a problem with his muscle in his calf. He had a sequence of games, he played all the time.

“We tried to manage but some of the players have to play a lot of minutes and we have to protect the ones that we think are not so ready to cope with that, but Dalot felt something."

Amorim also delivered an update on Amad, Matthijs de Ligt and Ayden Heaven stating the trio will miss the trip to the Vitality Stadium whilst revealing the former pair are nearing a return to training.

"Amad is near, Matta is near, but the rest is at the same pace," added Amorim. "Ayden [Heaven] is not ready, so I think that is it.”

Man Utd head to Bournemouth on the back of successive Premier League defeats against Newcastle and Wolves.

Without a league victory since beating Leicester before the international break, Amorim has stressed the importance of returning to winnings before their Europa League semi-final first leg showdown with Athletic Club next week.
