Marianella states Milan must ‘put boundaries in place’ with Ibrahimovic | OneFootball

Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s role, from the outside looking in, is not clear. His power has stretched across multiple areas of AC Milan, and no one really knows where the line is.

Since returning to the club, there has been an elevated focus on Ibrahimovic, as expected. However, it has not been for his work; instead, actually trying to figure out what he does, and more importantly, how.

It is a question that has continued to spiral for months, with no one completely sure of where the lines are with the Swede. Does he control the mercato? Is he in charge of management decisions, and the list goes on.

Of course, we now know that Gerry Cardinale has lessened his responsibilities, giving more power to Giorgio Furlani in the process, but whether this will have a concrete effect and give answers and clarity must be seen.

Today, Massimo Marianella spoke to Sky Sport about the need for clarity this summer, referencing Ibra more than anyone else, as Milan News relays.

“Even now we can see what Milan’s season has been like, our correspondents tell us that there has been and continues to be a communication problem within the club. What will happen with another important thinking mind that may be the new sporting director?

“It is clear that Milan would need great clarity and to choose the right person. These interviews to choose candidates will establish that. They must then immediately choose the one who will be the new coach, because I understand that there will be a new coach.

“Then it is clear that they have to put very clear boundaries on what will be the responsibilities of each one, especially Ibrahimovic, because he is a relevant person.”
