Midweek Regional Round-Up: Lye Town cut Kidderminster’s lead

Lye Town beat Kidderminster Harriers 1-0 to cut their lead at the top of the West Midlands League Premier Division to two points.
Britanee Lote’s penalty inside the last 20 minutes saw Lye take the points in front of a crowd of 220. Both the top two have four games left in the battle for the title.

Also in the West Midlands Premier, Port Vale edged Leek Town 4-3 on Wednesday to go fifth in the table. Lily Jackson’s second and decisive goal came in stoppage-time, Vale maintaining the lead despite having Meg Baldwin sent off.
Chester le Street Town moved into second spot in the North East League Premier, beating Wallsend BC 2-0 to sit within one point of leaders Ponteland United with four games in hand. Bradford City slipped to third but are Town’s main title rival.
Elsewhere in the North East Premier, South Shields saw off Sunderland West End by the same score line to climb to fifth.
FC United of Manchester knocked Ellesmere Port Town out of the North West League Alliance Design & Print Cup, their 4-1 result securing them a semi-final clash at Accrington Stanley.
Preston North End were 5-1 winners at Radcliffe in Division 1 North, to sit two points short of third-placed Penrith.
Ilminster Town won 3-1 at Bishops Lydeard to rise two places to sixth in the South West League Premier Division.
In Division One North, second-placed Bitton took the the points 2-0 at Paulton Rovers despite an early red card for Niamh Hague. Early in the second half, Layla Soppelsa added to Ruby Nolan’s seventh-minute goal.
