Fabio Paratici is the frontrunner to become the next Milan director following a fairly lengthy search. CEO Giorgio Furlani flew to London to convene with the official and try to iron out the final details, Gianluca Di Marzio reports.
The agreement between the parties is at a good point, but not yet completely finalized. The Rossoneri wish to conclude the negotiation sooner rather than later to start planning the future.
Paratici would eventually start at Milan with reduced mansions as he’s suspended until July 20th due to the ‘plusvalenze’ trial stemming from his time at Juventus. The other concrete options were Igli Tare and Atalanta’s Tony D’Amico, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs.
The two officials spoke a few times and had a long meeting last Monday. Owner Gerry Cardinale is in England as well. The exec has continued to be a consultant for Tottenham during his disqualification. The Spurs would be keen on bringing him back officially if he were available once he finished serving his sentence.
The Rossoneri already missed out on one of their main target, former Atletico Madrid director Andrea Berta, who has formally joined Arsenal in the last few days.
At this point, it’d be bad look if the hiring dragged on or fell through. While he’s a high-profile official, and it doesn’t take much to do better than their present one, it wouldn’t be without risks, given what happened in his final season at Juventus. In general, he has done better while working with somebody who kept him in check rather than on his own. The internal dynamics would be interesting.
