Rodrigo's Muniz's strike in Fulham's 2-1 defeat to Arsenal last night at the Emirates may have been a mere consolation - but his impressive knack of scoring goals off the bench this season has made him the top flight's most prolific substitute.

The Brazilian forward has been vying for a starting spot in the Cottagers' XI with Mexican striker Raul Jimenez and he has often had to bide his time to enter the action, Muniz starting only six of his 29 Premier League appearances this term.

Despite limited game time, however, Muniz has notched seven Premier League goals this season for Marco Silva's men and his deflected finish late on against the Gunners last night means he has scored more goals off the bench than any player in the top flight in 2024/25.

Now with six goals as a substitute, the 23-year-old has notched two more Premier League goals off the bench than any other player - his team-mate Harry Wilson and former Aston Villa striker Jhon Durán the top flight's 'Next Best' in this particular stat category.

Muniz's development this season has impressed his manager Silva, who praised his striker's maturity and focus against the Gunners after the Brazilian missed a glaring header before finding the net late on.

“Rodrigo understands the life of a striker. He cannot be so down when something happens.

“I saw him fighting until the end to try to get something from the game. He scored one and even after that, he was in the game.

“Rodrigo is already more mature and understands really well what his job is in his team and what it means to be a striker. It’s what I demand from him.”
