In a recent edition of the Ringer FC podcast, TV pundit Ian Wright urged Newcastle United to land Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford, who is currently playing on loan at Aston Villa. Wright said,

“It’s the kind of signing Newcastle should be making,

“That would be amazing. That would be dangerous. Rashford at Newcastle? Yeah. That would be really good. I really like that for Rashford. Rashford at Newcastle can be dangerous.”

Rashford’s Decent Loan Spell At Aston Villa

The 27-year-old is having an encouraging loan spell at Aston Villa after he put in a run of impressive displays for them in the Premier League. Rashford has banged in four goals and grabbed six assists in 17 matches for the Villans this season across all competitions.

The England international has proven himself to be useful off the bench as he is averaging 1.9 shots, 1.3 key passes and 0.9 dribbles per game in the Premier League. He has even distributed the ball relatively well based on his pass success rate of 82.1% in the English top tier (stats via whoscored).

Rashford’s current deal at his parent club Manchester United will run out in the summer of 2028 which could make it difficult for Newcastle to sign him on the cheap later this year.

Should Newcastle United Boss Eddie Howe Move In For Rashford?

Rashford has got the pace to cause a few problems for his marker out in the wide areas. He can strike the ball with power and accuracy from long range but needs to find a way to be more consistent in front of the opponent’s goal.t

The English talent has even got the eye to create some inviting chances for his teammates up top. He is primarily a left-sided wide player but can also play as a centre-forward if asked to do so by his manager.

We can expect Rashford to add more pace and goals to Newcastle boss Eddie Howe’s frontline. He has what it takes to fight for regular first-team football at St. James’ Park next season.

At 27, Rashford is playing in his prime and could help the Magpies compete across all fronts in the coming years. Therefore, the Tyneside club would be wise to move in for him in this summer transfer window.
