Despite this, Vincent Kompany’s side will be facing a tough opposition, with Mainz currently chasing a Champions League spot and occupying 6th place in the league table.

Bayern are coming off the back of a 4-0 win away at relegation threatened Heidenheim in which they were already 3-0 up at half time.

The clean sheet was a real boost for Vincent Kompany’s side as this was their first in seven games.

They are currently enduring a mixed run of form recently as they have won one, drawn two and lost one of their past four games in all competitions.

Thomas Muller will make his 500th Bundesliga appearance for the club if he is to play a role on Saturday.

Mainz are coming off the back of a highly frustrating draw against Wolfsburg in which they conceded in the 3rd minute and also one minute before full time.

The defending will need to improve if they are to keep out the league’s top scorers as they have not kept a clean sheet in their last seven matches and have conceded ten goals in their past five matches.

However Bo Henriksen’s can still achieve a highly successful season as they would currently qualify for the Europa Conference League as it stands in 6th place and are just two points behind fourth placed RB Leipzig who currently occupy the final Champions League qualification spot.

The last time these two sides met, it was Mainz who came out on top with a 2-1 victory.

Team News

Vincent Kompany revealed that Thomas Muller has been feeling ill throughout the week but was hopeful that the forward could be a part of the squad tomorrow.

Alphonso Davies, Dayot Upamecano and Hiroki Ito remain out injured.

Manuel Neuer returned to training today and has made the next step towards his comeback.

Kompany also stated that the club will ‘wait and see’ on Raphael Guerreiro’s availability.

As for Mainz, they will be without centre-backs Maxim Leitsch and Moritz Jenz who are set to be the only absentees for Saturday.
