Simon Rusk believes Albert Gronbaek still has some Premier League role to play at Southampton before he moves to his old surroundings.
Simon Rusk is a stubborn manager and he hasn't led that remain hidden from Southampton fans. Hours before assuming his dugout position again, Rusk didn't shy away from taking a separate approach than Ivan Juric.
Acknowledging the initial signs, Rusk's competitiveness is clearly moulding Southampton for the better. Yesterday, they fought with West Ham to a draw, which gave shades of a perfect Rusk-like performance.
Further, morale and confidence are best friends and Rusk picking the best of both worlds is the possibility of the hour.
The reason being that the Englishman is briskly racking up small positives and now he wants to test something even bigger. It's getting Albert Gronbaek up to speed before the Premier League timer ticks out.
Voicing his thoughts on Gronbaek's struggle, Rusk told the Daily Echo: "I'm sure he's desperate for that too. Albert's back at the club, and hopefully it won't be too long before we see him back on the training pitch."
I get it, Gronbaek's loan countdown is nearing its end and the versatile forward's Southampton days can be written off already. Still, there's a minuscule but meaningful possibility that his Saints contribution might not be over yet.
Exactly, Rusk is clinging on to this optimism and he can't be called off for that. Striker plans are constantly changing for the Premier League and even a single Gronbaek goal can help Southampton travel a good mile on the points front.
Even if nothing much happens, Gronbaek's sluggish top-flight experiment will not considerably bother Southampton. The club has comparatively bigger wins to chase and Rusk knows he can only better this stale Gronbaek appeal from now on.
