The pair are always trying to rile each other up – which is most likely why the two are chosen by the broadcaster, as Boyd is a dreadful pundit and offers very little insight of interest, if we’re being brutally honest about it.

Nonetheless, it is what it is and he’s always lurking about. That being said, it is good that he’s in situ when Sutton can troll him in spectacular fashion, as the Englishman is just too quick and witty for the ex-Rangers striker to keep up with and can visibly be seen going crimson when Sutton sticks the boot into his beloved club. It’s a regular occurrence with Celtic so dominant in Scottish football in this era and with no real challenge from across the city.

Last year, Boyd was ready to erupt when talking about the dominance of the famous green and white, with the Hoops just too good for the Rangers this past while, who’ve only one a single title, which was due to a season without spectators that completely tranformed football for the worst. So it’s not been a good time for ‘Boydy’ and his brethren of a blue persuasion over at Ibrox.

The former Kilmarnock man was going off on one on this particular occasion about how it was unacceptable for a club like “Rangers” to go without championships as it had been… cough… “built on it.” This was met with a reasonable retort from Sutton, who rightfully claimed that it hasn’t been built on winning titles as there had been only one to speak of in recent times.

Boyd couldn’t take that very true statement and responded by claiming that they had still won the most (conveniently forgetting about the events of 2012, as most of them do). Sutton then savagely nipped the whole back-and-forth in the bud, when he cheekily said to his fellow Sky Sports pundit that he should give it a year – with Celtic set to equal the supposed record of the old and new clubs.

As we know, Sutton’s prediction has come to pass.

That must be sore!
