AC Milan will make some big decisions in the coming weeks, and the talks with Igli Tare have provided some clarity on the possible direction.

As Tuttosport (via MilanNews) report this morning, Giorgio Furlani is personally carrying out the process of hiring a new sporting director. Two days ago, the CEO was in Rome to meet Tare who is currently the main candidate to be appointed.

The face-to-face meeting between the two was positive, but not decisive because the club want to take time. They absolutely do not want to make a mistake in the choice and for this reason they will reflect and speak to others before making a final decision.

Tare is in pole position, but not the only candidate in the running because Furlani’s appreciation for other profiles such as Tony D’Amico of Atalanta has not completely died. If Milan were to decide to go for a figure who has a contract with another club, then things would be delayed further.

With the current season now devoid of objectives barring the Coppa Italia, the leadershp must begin planning for 2025-26 as soon as possible. The decision on the new director must arrive by the first half of May, because Sergio Conceicao’s replacement must be picked.

The hottest names at the moment are Massimiliano Allegri, who would return to the club he left in 2014, and Vincenzo Italiano of Bologna. The latter a profile highly esteemed by Tare, who wanted to bring him to Lazio when he was there.
