Udinese defender Jaka Bijol admits that it would be hard for him to turn down a transfer to Inter Milan.
The Slovenian spoke to La Repubblica, via FCInterNews. He also gave his thoughts ahead of tomorrow’s Serie A clash with the Nerazzurri.
Tomorrow, Jaka Bijol will be an opponent for Inter at the San Siro.
The former CSKA Moscow defender is a key player for Udinese, who the Nerazzurri will host in their first Serie A match back from the international break.
But then, in the summer, Bijol could be a transfer target for Inter.
The Nerazzurri reportedly see the 26-year-old as one of their main targets in defense.
Inter’s objective this summer will be to refresh their aging back three.
While Stefan de Vrij and Francesco Acerbi have been reliable servants, both are well into their thirties and increasingly injury-prone.
In many ways, Bijol would seem an ideal heir at the centre of Inter’s back three.
The Slovenian international has experience playing in the centre of a back three. He is also very much Serie A-proven.
Like de Vrij and Acerbi, Bijol is a physically strong centre-back who excels at marking strikers and cleaning up in his penalty area.
And Jaka Bijol is not hiding from the transfer rumours. “Who wouldn’t want to join Inter Milan?” he posted.
“I don’t think that there are many players in the world right now who wouldn’t want to wear the Nerazzurri shirt,” the Slovenian declared.

“I’m certainly interested. But in the meantime, I want to beat them on Sunday.”
“Then in the summer… we’ll see.”
Meanwhile, Bijol gave the view that “Serie A is one of the best leagues in the world.”
“I’m happy to have chosen Udinese,” added the 26-year-old. “I’ve grown here.”
Bijol also admitted that “The Premier League fascinates me.”
“And as a child I was a Barcelona fan.”
“Now I feel ready to take a step forward,” Bijol said.
Then, Bijol also gave his thoughts on how Udinese will try to stop Inter striker Marcus Thuram tomorrow.
“A player like that needs to be contained by the entire team,” the Slovenian said.
“And you can’t forget anyone at Inter. Everyone can score, including the defenders.”
Bijol also named Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni as one who particularly impresses him. He called the Italian international “one of the best defenders in the world.”
“He has an incredible left foot. It’s great to watch him play.”
And in the Serie A title race, Jaka Bijol said that “I think Inter can win it.”
