Barcelona may not be thrilled with the result they secured at home in the first leg against Inter Milan last night, but the game was worthy of a UEFA Champions League semifinal.
The Catalans participated in the semifinal of the event for the first time after the Liverpool debacle and were touted to be the favourites given Inter’s poor run of form in recent weeks. Simone Inzaghi’s men, however, were up for the challenge.
Inter went ahead in just the first minute of the game and soon made it 2-0 to silence the stadium in Montjuic. Lamine Yamal’s solo Golazo and a Ferran Torres strike helped Barcelona equalise in the first half.
Inter scored once more from a set-piece to make it 3-2, but a Raphinha screamer brought Barcelona immediately back to 3-3.

The Polish goalkeeper had simply no chance of stopping Inter Milan’s early goal, nor can he directly be blamed for Denzel Dumfries’ eventual second goal that gave Inter a 2-0 lead. Was solid with his distribution, regardless.
Should have done better to stop Inter’s third goal for he had time to react.
The left-back did not do much wrong on the night but did not contribute anything of much value in the final third either. Could have been better with his distribution but did decently considering that he is only a stand-in left-back.

The Spaniard struggled against Inter’s pace and aerial prowess on the night but concurrently did a good job at holding the high offside trap after Barcelona went two goals down.
Had his work cut out for him against a dynamic partnership in Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram, yet was unfazed with his distribution.
The youngster was crucial in controlling Inter’s pacey counters in the first half, before Ronald Araujo’s arrival on the scene. Yet, it is safe to say that he too suffered through the opening period.
The Frenchman was a solid cog on the right flank, combining well with Lamine Yamal and covering ground defensively.
In what will undoubtedly come as a massive blow for Barcelona, he left the field injured late in the first-half and the manager will hope it is nothing as serious as it appears.
The Dutchman entered the field as the only Barcelona player to have played a UEFA Champions League semifinal before and was calm and composed on the ball.
His distribution was flawless, although he did suffer relatively during the transition when Inter Milan threatened to break loose.
The midfield maestro was the one who pulled Barcelona’s strings throughout the game once more and provided stability in the middle of the park despite Inter’s high press.
Created Barcelona’s second goal of the night with a great pre-assist to Raphinha over the top that was delivered with perfect precision.
Olmo was always seen as the key to unlocking Inter’s low block given his prowess in tight spaces, but he once again was far from his best last night.
Much like the Clasico, Olmo was simply not clinical enough in the tight spaces he was deployed for and often lost possession uncharacteristically. Did create a few chances in the first half and had his chances to score but could not capitalise.

The 17-year-old took responsibility for the team’s attack like none other and carried Barcelona’s progression in the first half – something very reminiscent of Lionel Messi’s time at the club.
Yamal was simply unplayable even for Inter’s low block as he bamboozled defenders with his feints and created chance after chance. Scored an astonishing solo goal to score Barcelona’s first of the night and could well have had a second solo goal minutes later.

The Brazilian had a fairly slow start to the game but slowly grew into the proceedings as the first half proceeded.
Provided the assist for Barcelona’s eventual equaliser with a wonderfully weighted header into the path of Torres. Scored a stunner to make it 3-3 from distance.

Failed to score a straightforward chance when the team was 1-0 down but was at the right place at the right time to capitalise on Raphinha’s header assist and make it 2-2 on the night.
Did well to replace Kounde after his injury and was solid in defence and with his distribution. His contribution in attack, however, was understandably limited.
Came on in the second half to provide more defensive stability and did so on the transition. However, even he could not help curb Inter’s dominance from set-pieces.
