Mattia Zaccagni’s agent confirms ‘it is true, Napoli showed interest’ in signing the winger in January, but the Italy international ‘never considered leaving Lazio.’
The Partenopei were linked to numerous different wingers in the transfer window after losing star man Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to Paris Saint-Germain.
Among the names floated to replace the Georgia international was Zaccagni, the 29-year-old left-sided winger at Lazio.
Speaking to Radio Kiss Kiss, agent Mario Giuffredi confirms there was substance behind those reports.
“It is true, Napoli showed interest,” said Zaccagni’s representative.
“However, he never considered leaving Lazio and the club didn’t think about a separation either. He had only just renewed his contract six months earlier, he wants to become a symbol of Lazio and never thought about leaving the Biancocelesti.”

He joined the Stadio Olimpico side in 2021 from Hellas Verona and has amassed 32 goals with 28 assists in 153 competitive games for Lazio.
This has already been a very prolific campaign, scoring 10 times and assisting nine between Serie A, the Europa League and Coppa Italia.
His future is committed to the Aquile, having signed a new contract that runs to June 2029, and earned his place in the Italy squad for the Nations League quarter-final against Germany.
Meanwhile, Napoli eventually plumped for Noah Okafor on loan from Milan, trusting David Neres to take over Kvaratskhelia’s role.
