It is always important for FC Barcelona to consider potential signings for the future. After all, each transfer window is an opportunity to help create an even more competitive squad than before. Even with limited resources, Barcelona rarely ever passes up on such opportunities.

Heading into the next summer transfer window, there have been rumors about what kind of profiles or players Barça may end up pursuing. As it stands, certain recent reports have claimed that the club is not interested in signing forwards at the moment.

Instead, they could look to bolster other areas of the field where more attention is required. Moreover, it seems that a certain Manchester City midfielder remains keen on joining the Catalan giants as well during the summer.

As reported by SPORT, 30-year-old Manchester City star Bernardo Silva is interested in joining Barcelona. The Portuguese midfielder has always wanted to play in Spain, and that is a dream that he continues to hope to achieve.

While Barça and Silva have been linked to one another in the past as well, no move ended up materializing due to various factors. Now, however, the report suggests that Manchester City is open to selling the player and Silva himself is pushing for it to be a smooth departure for him.

Despite having a contract with the English Premier League club until 2026, Silva reportedly wants to make a change. With Manchester City looking to commit to a squad rebuilt, the Portuguese star could end up leaving.

Moreover, the player’s agent Jorge Mendes has also reportedly spoken to Barcelona about this possible operation and how it would only take place on terms that suit the Spanish club. On the surface of it this seems like a great opportunity, but Barça is not completely sold just yet.

Instead, the club considers it difficult to adjust Silva into the team’s current midfield. With world-class players already available, the addition of Silva might not even be a necessity for the Catalan giants in their quest for improvement.

However, if the club believes that a new midfield arrival is needed, perhaps Silva’s potential signing could gain more attention. With an affordable €50 million release clause already in place, the player is also reportedly willing to lower his salary demands if Barcelona wish to sign him.

Still, with Silva being 30 years old, he is not exactly the type of player that Barcelona would actively pursue. Instead, the club is more focused on recruiting younger talents and giving priority to retaining the players that they already have over signing new ones.
