5 EFL clubs that Jamie Vardy could sign for next.

Jamie Vardy officially announced that he'll be departing Leicester CIty after 13 years at the club, which saw them win the Premier League, and the FA Cup.

There have been suspicions in the background for a while now that 2024/25 could be Vardy's final season with the Foxes, and those suspicions came true in late April, as the former England striker said goodbye to a club where he's become a legend.

With no mention of retirement, it's safe to assume that the 38-year-old will look to continue his playing career elsewhere in the EFL. Despite his age, Vardy is still going strong and has proven that he still has goals in his locker.

It'll be strange to see the legendary Leicester striker in any kit other than the royal blue of the Foxes, but the veteran forward will undoubtedly have plenty of options when it comes to picking his next club.

With that in mind, Football League World selected five EFL clubs Vardy could sign for in the summer.

Wrexham

This one just seems rather obvious, and had already been rumoured to happen before Vardy had even announced his departure from Leicester.

Wrexham will compete in the Championship next season after securing automatic promotion with a game to spare. With the Red Dragons going up to the second tier, this could make a deal for the striker even more likely.

The Welsh club will be an unknown quantity heading into the Championship next season. Securing a signing like Vardy would offer them another outlet for goals alongside Sam Smith, who is yet to be properly tested in the second tier.

With Paul Mullin and Ollie Palmer likely off in the summer, Wrexham could do with adding another quality striker to their ranks.

Sheffield Wednesday

Could Vardy finish his career where he started it?

The striker was on the books at Sheffield Wednesday as a youngster, but was released at the age of 16, which began his incredible rise from non-league to Premier League.

A boyhood Owls fan, a romantic return to where it all started could be on the cards this summer. Having been released at such a young age, the 38-year-old may feel like he has unfinished business in Yorkshire, which could see him return as a man.

Ike Ugbo has struggled for goals this season, and with top scorer Josh Windass potentially departing Hillsborough, the club will need to bring in a new starting striker who can bring consistency to replace the Wednesday fan favourite.

Birmingham City

Another side promoted from League One, Birmingham City and Wrexham took the limelight away from the rest of the division with their superior financial backing.

Chris Davies' men laid down a gauntlet by setting a new third tier points record, and it wouldn't be the most surprising thing in the world to see the Blues towards the top of the Championship next season.

In his twilight years, Vardy could be tempted to add one last honour to his CV, and help Birmingham return to the Premier League.

Blues could be looking for a striker in the summer, as Lyndon Dykes and Alfie May could struggle with the step-up to the Championship. Once again, the veteran striker could add a consistent flow of goals, even if it's for just one season.

Bristol City

Bristol CIty could still be playing Premier League football next season, as they look set for a campaign in the play-offs. Regardless of what division they're in, Liam Manning could look to add a marquee striker to his ranks.

It would be an audacious move from the Robins, but Vardy's goalscoring prowess and experience could be really useful for the Bristol side, even if they remain in the Championship next season.

Nahki Wells has been in fine form for the play-off hopefuls this season, but he is just one of two players who've hit double figures this season at the club.

Bristol City seemingly lack a talisman, which has potentially prevented them from pushing even higher in the table. With a lethal goalscorer like Vardy available, he could solve that issue if the finances are right.

Stockport County

In a similar situation to the previous club on this list, Stockport County's divisional status for next season remains unconfirmed as they'll compete in the play-offs for a spot in the Championship.

Should they win promotion, they will once again be overshadowed by the likes of Wrexham. However, they could pull themselves out of the shadows and into the spotlight by pulling off an incredible coup for Vardy.

Dave Challinor's side have run along nicely in League One in the second half of the season, and if they use that momentum to win promotion, a move for Vardy shouldn't be ruled out.

Looking at the squad on a whole, there's a lack of Championship quality players there currently. Not only will the former Leicester striker solve part of that issue, but he could single-handedly punch above its weight next season.
