A right-back by trade, Jimenez has enjoyed a solid breakthrough at AC Milan this season, featuring in all but one league match since the turn of the year.

However, Jimenez’s future at Milan is far from secure as Real Madrid still hold major control over the player thanks to several clauses including a buy-back and a first refusal clause.

Given Jimenez’s brilliant performances in Serie A this year, Real Madrid have taken note and are closely monitoring the youngster’s situation at the club.

However, as per Fabrizio Romano, it appears Milan are looking to change the dynamics and are set to meet Madrid officials soon.

The Rossoneri primarily want to discuss new terms with Real Madrid over Jimenez deal, one that could potentially include the cancellation of aforementioned clauses.

That said, Romano confirms that Real Madrid have no desire to lose control over the player’s future as they consider the Spaniard highly due to his technical prowess and immense potential.

It must also be noted that Real Madrid are keen on shoring up their ranks in the full-back positions. Alex Jimenez, to that end, could be an ideal reinforcement in the right-back slot.

However, Jimenez remains happy at Milan as he has become an important part of the first-team setup.

Therefore, whether or not he will want to return to Real Madrid will also be a question, especially given the way he explained his decision to leave the club in the first place.
