Al Ahli dominate RSL Awards for April | OneFootball

Al Ahli led the way in the Roshn Saudi League Awards for April, with the Jeddah club picking up the prizes for best player, manager and goalkeeper.

Matthias Jaissle’s side, who on Tuesday night contest the AFC Champions League Elite semi-final against RSL champions Al Hilal, enjoyed a brilliant month in which they returned from the March international break with a bang.

Opening April with a thrilling 2-2 draw in the Sea Derby with RSL leaders Al Ittihad, Al Ahli then reeled off three wins on the bounce, scoring 10 goals and conceding two, to move into the top four in the standings.

As such, Jaissle was named the league’s Coach of the Month, while Edouard Mendy’s two clean sheets earned him Goalkeeper of the Month. Coupling the shout-outs against Al Raed and Al Fayha with - rather remarkably - four goals, Al Ahli defender Roger Ibanez collected the Player of the Month honour.

Al Ahli were, though, denied a clean sweep by ever-present Musab Al Juwayr, who keeps the Young Player of the Month award for the sixth straight month.

The Al Shabab midfielder, who has grown into a key figure for club and the Saudi Arabia national team, continues to excel in a Fatih Terim side intent on a top-four finish.
